Overview
As an RPG Analyst Developer, you will technically design and implement FNZ products within a self-organized Delivery Team, developing applications from initial design through final release.
What you'll do
- Work closely with a Solution Architect and other Developers and Testers to design and implement new functionality for Clients.
- Design and implement items such as REST APIs and Trading architecture.
- Participate in product demos for internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform code reviews for other Developers.
- Develop unit tests to ensure required quality gateways are met.
- Investigate, diagnose and fix support issues, working closely with Clients to ensure successful resolution.
- Execute best practices for software development.
- Follow agreed standards and SDLC processes.
- Produce development estimates that contribute to overall delivery estimates.
- Support the Delivery Manager in the technical planning of delivery projects.
- Understand the business domain and contribute to requirements gathering as required.
- Assist in preparing and documenting software requirements and specifications.
- Deliver agreed quality outputs within agreed timeframes.
- Work with Analyst Testers to ensure they understand solutions and testing requirements.
- Communicate the status of assigned work items to the Delivery Team.
- Identify and promote opportunities for application efficiency or performance improvements.
- Improve business knowledge and programming skills.
- Contribute to the FNZ development community through team sessions and sharing best practices and lessons learnt.
- Mentor more junior members of the development team.
- Support process improvement initiatives and identify new process improvements.
- Maintain high standards of written and verbal communication so information is clearly and concisely documented and appropriately disseminated.
What you'll need
- Minimum 2 years of professional experience in RPG, DB2 and IBMi (AS/400).
- Experience with SQL and database design.
- Experience utilising testing frameworks.
- Knowledge of object-oriented programming, design patterns and algorithms.
- Prior experience with medium to large-scale systems, conceptual design and implementation of modern software architectures.
- Experience with continuous integration tools such as GIT, Bitbucket or equivalent tools.
- Knowledge and awareness of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience working with different development methodologies, such as Kanban and Scrum.
- Confidence and ability to take initiative in a client and delivery focused environment.
- Excellent organisational, administration and time management skills.
- Good team communication skills and confidence dealing with internal and external clients.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Superior analytical thinking and problem solving.
Nice to have
- Experience working within the Financial Services sector.
- A degree in Computer Science or a comparable title.
- Any Java development experience.
