Architect Manager, Data & AI (GenAI) — Tax Automations & Innovation

Overview

Lead the GenAI and automation strategy for DoorDash's global Tax function as the senior AI authority, setting the technical and AI direction for the regional pillars and owning the governance framework for AI tools that touch tax data.

What you'll do

• Define and lead the GenAI strategy for the Tax function, identifying high-value use cases and setting adoption standards.
• Architect and deploy enterprise-grade AI solutions, including intelligent assistants, AI-driven classification, anomaly detection, automated audit support, document summarization, and retrieval-augmented reporting.
• Own the AI and automation governance framework, covering model risk, change control, testing and validation standards, documentation, and auditability for tools that touch tax data and filings.
• Set the rules for responsible, controlled AI use, including data privacy, data residency, and what data may be sent to external model providers, partnering with InfoSec, Internal Audit, and Compliance.
• Partner with senior Tax, Product, and Engineering leaders to drive requirements and deliver measurable business impact.
• Mentor Senior Analysts and Associate Managers across all regional pillars on applying GenAI/LLMs effectively and within governance guardrails.
• Quantify, track, and communicate the business impact of AI solutions, including efficiency gains, error reduction, and compliance risk mitigation.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in AI, GenAI, and data automation, delivering production-grade solutions at scale.
• Deep expertise in LLMs and GenAI techniques, including prompt engineering, fine-tuning, RAG, evaluation frameworks, conversational AI, classification, and summarization.
• Advanced in Python and SQL, with experience building scalable AI and automation pipelines.
• Strong background in automation and applied analytics, ideally in tax, finance, or regulated industries.
• Experience deploying AI in cloud data environments such as Snowflake, dbt, Airflow, or Databricks.
• Expertise in AI governance, compliance, and risk management for regulated environments.
• Ability to translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive tools for non-technical users, and to influence at all levels from hands-on teams to executives.
• Bachelor's degree or higher.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of tax technology platforms or experience with global tax teams.
• Experience in a high-growth technology, marketplace, or e-commerce company.
