Assistant Manager - Demand Planner

Overview

Lead and execute the demand planning process for General Mots India export business across multiple product portfolios and international markets.

What you'll do

• Lead and execute the demand planning process for India Exports across multiple product portfolios (Atta, Flatbreads, Cake Mixes, Haagen Dazs etc.) and international markets (USA, Canada, Australia, UK and several others)
• Analyse past sales history (sell-in and sell-out) and identify key demand drivers and measure their performance
• Work alongside data analysts to generate accurate statistical forecasts for key markets
• Collaborate closely with Distributors, Sales and/or Marketing and Finance to enrich statistical forecasts with critical demand inputs and building-blocks
• Work closely with Marketing, Sales, and Supply Planning to help manage new product introductions, re-stages and discontinuations
• Lead consensus forecast meetings to arrive at final aligned consensus forecast along with key risks and opportunities to be presented to senior management for sign-off
• Check actual performance vs plan, identify reasons for errors and drive improvement in forecast accuracy by analysing existing processes and making recommendations to improve accuracy and minimise bias
• Increase adoption of digital solutions (o9/QAD/SAP) in the forecasting and planning process and maximize use of the technologies available
• Remain flexible and willing to react quickly to real and perceived forecast issues

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Science / Commerce
• Master's Degree in Operations Management / Logistics / Operations Research / Supply Chain / Materials Management
• 3-5 years of planning experience (particularly business forecasting experience)
• Understanding of market and customer needs as well as products, product segments and the associated issues
• Knowledge of Sales, Marketing, Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR), VMI and Sales Operations Planning processes (S&OP)
• Knowledge of one or more of the major statistical forecasting software packages (i.e. SAP APO, Logility, Manugistics)
• Expert in Microsoft Office Suites, particularly Excel
• Strong analytical and statistical skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills, communication (both written and oral), presentation, influencing and conflict management

Nice to have

• Planning experience preferably in the consumer-packaged goods industry
• Specific knowledge of SAP desired
