Demand Planner - Orthopaedics Supply Chain

Overview

Own demand, inventory and supply planning for the DePuy Synthes orthopaedics franchise, enabling it to meet sales and service objectives and supporting the launch of new orthopaedic products.

What you'll do

• Drive IBP meetings with Sales, Marketing and Finance to review recommended sales forecasts and inventory goals, with emphasis on brand transitions, new product introductions, tenders and market intelligence.
• Make recommended adjustments to forecast and inventory targets based on changes in demand and market trends.
• Drive supply and inventory plans aligned with franchise business plans to achieve targets.
• Establish and use best methods (statistical models and software tools) to create forecasts and inventory targets, collaborating with global demand planning teams.
• Continuously assess supply chain and business processes, identifying areas to improve efficiency through innovation and analytics.
• Own and improve key supply chain KPIs, including forecast accuracy, inventory value and DOS, OTIF, back orders and ESO.
• Track and drive asset utilization, identifying opportunities to rebalance capex sets and driving forecast corrections in line with asset turns.
• Prepare basic MIS and communicate it to sales teams daily or weekly; develop advanced MIS to enable data-driven decisions.
• Work closely with imports, warehouses and freight forwarders to ensure timely inventory availability.
• Understand regulatory export requirements and the processes needed to meet them.
• Ensure processes are SOX and regulatory compliant and meet audit requirements.
• Drive forecast reviews with sales and marketing to arrive at IBP volumes and values in line with demand trends.

What you'll need

• B.Tech and MBA education.
• 2 to 4 years of related experience.
• Experience in forecasting and demand planning.
• Subject understanding of collaborative forecasting methods and the IBP process.
• Knowledge of key performance metrics: inventory turns, margin contributions, DOS, OTIF, MAPE, back order, ESO.
• Good understanding of analytical tools (Excel, PowerApps, etc.) and effective communication skills.
• Ability to identify critical gaps and raise issues to upstream global planning teams.
• Results and performance driven.
• Project management involving cross-functional teams.

Nice to have

• Experience in the health care industry or pharma, preferably but not limited to these industries.
• Knowledge of key performance metrics including SLOB.
• Understanding of S&OP process.
• Strong understanding of APO / MRP concepts.
• Full understanding of the components of safety stock and ability to calculate the demand variability component.
• Understanding of how shifts in demand forecast and sales vs. forecast impact supply plans.
