Overview
Own and prioritise the LabWare Lab Execution System (LES) product backlog that digitises and controls QC laboratory test execution, delivering validated, compliant changes across the product lifecycle.
What you'll do
- Partner with QC laboratory, Quality, site, and digital stakeholders to define LabWare LES outcomes that improve compliance, data integrity, analyst experience, and operational efficiency.
- Own and manage the LabWare LES product backlog, ensuring epics, features, user stories, configuration needs, master data impacts, reporting requirements, validation expectations, and dependencies are clearly defined and prioritised.
- Make backlog prioritisation decisions based on GxP impact, business value, laboratory criticality, data integrity risk, defect severity, release capacity, cost, and cross-site standardisation opportunities, escalating strategic trade-offs to the Product Manager or Product Domain Lead.
- Lead delivery activities for LabWare LES changes, guiding Product Analysts, configuration specialists, testers, CSV resources, architects, engineers, and supplier teams to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose, validated, secure, supportable, and aligned to architecture and quality standards.
- Ensure LabWare LES changes support controlled laboratory execution, including electronic worksheets, procedural step guidance, calculations, specifications, instrument or system interfaces, review-by-exception, audit trails, electronic signatures, and exception handling where applicable.
- Drive operational readiness, including support model impacts, SOP updates, training materials, release communications, cutover plans, hypercare, runbooks, and knowledge transfer before deployment.
- Maintain product performance measures for LabWare LES, including adoption, release throughput, defects, incident trends, validation progress, user experience signals, support effort, and benefits realisation; use insights to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure product changes comply with GxP, CSV, data integrity, security, privacy, access control, change control, and supplier governance expectations, obtaining input and approvals from Quality, CSV, Security, Architecture, and other SMEs where required.
- Support Solution Architects and technical teams in assessing design options, integrations, environment management, reporting, performance, and dependencies with LIMS, instruments, ERP, document management, identity management, and other connected systems.
- Act as an escalation point for LabWare LES functional issues, defects, prioritisation conflicts, and release readiness decisions, balancing business continuity, compliance risk, user impact, and delivery capacity.
- Promote agile, iterative, value-driven delivery practices while maintaining validated-system discipline, including traceability from requirements through design, build, testing, approval, release, and ongoing periodic review.
What you'll need
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, Life Sciences or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Typically 5+ years of experience in product delivery, laboratory informatics, LabWare LIMS / LES, QC laboratory systems, or process-led technology roles in a regulated environment.
- Proven experience defining, prioritising, and delivering requirements for laboratory execution, LIMS / LES, electronic worksheets, analytical workflows, reporting, interfaces, or validated laboratory systems.
- Experience working directly with QC laboratories, Quality, CSV, IT, suppliers, and site stakeholders to translate laboratory needs into feasible, compliant, value-led technology changes.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritise based on GxP impact, data integrity risk, user impact, business continuity, technical complexity, cost, and delivery capacity.
- Experience supporting validated system delivery, including requirements, configuration, testing, defect triage, release readiness, change control, and deployment into controlled laboratory environments.
- Familiarity with regulated change management, periodic review, audit trail review expectations, user access governance, supplier management, and quality documentation for GxP systems.
- Exposure to continuous improvement approaches that simplify laboratory processes, reduce manual transcription, improve right-first-time execution, and increase adoption of standardised digital laboratory ways of working.
- Experience working within agile or hybrid delivery environments while maintaining appropriate validation, traceability, and release controls for regulated systems.
