Associate General Counsel, Privacy

Overview

Serve as a senior privacy and data protection legal advisor across Coinbase’s global operations. Advise on product development, regulatory strategy, data governance, and engagement with regulators.

What you'll do

• Develop and scale the global privacy program with Privacy Operations.
• Draft privacy policies, data protection agreements, and transparency reports.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives covering data governance, privacy tooling, and data subject rights.
• Embed privacy-by-design principles into product development and launches.
• Coordinate responses to privacy incidents, regulatory inquiries, and law enforcement demands.
• Engage with government agencies, privacy regulators, and data protection authorities.

What you'll need

• 8+ years as a practicing attorney.
• 5+ years of substantive privacy experience, including in-house technology or financial services experience.
• JD or international equivalent and qualification as a lawyer in the UK, Ireland, or an EU jurisdiction.
• Deep knowledge of EU and international privacy and data protection law.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional privacy programs.
• Experience drafting and negotiating privacy policies, data protection agreements, and vendor information security terms.
• Experience responding to regulatory inquiries from data protection and consumer protection authorities.

• Remote role in Ireland.
• Annual base salary: €195,700, excluding equity and bonus.
