Azure Database Performance Engineer, Officer

Overview

Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer focused on troubleshooting and tuning SQL Server performance in Azure environments, including Azure SQL and Managed Instance.

What you'll do

• Ensure availability and optimize MSSQL 2016/2017/2019/2022 on hosted and Azure IaaS SQL VMs.
• Monitor performance of application databases and queries and apply continuous tuning.
• Identify MSSQL-related issues by working with application teams and stakeholders.
• Follow technical standards and operational procedures for performance, high availability, replication, scalability, and security.
• Handle real-time MSSQL design and troubleshooting issues.
• Resolve priority incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and support corrective/preventative actions.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of experience working with large MS SQL Server 2016/2017/2019/2022 databases and Snowflake in a 24x7x365 production environment.
• 8+ years of hands-on experience operating MS SQL servers and related technologies in Azure.
• Strong database performance tuning experience using tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, and Extended Events.
• Knowledge of database internals and database design patterns.
• Experience with Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance in Azure.
• Strong understanding of database encryption, high-availability, disaster recovery, replication, and backup/restore.
