BI developer (AVP)

Overview

The BI Developer (AVP) will support the Risk Reporting team by designing and developing technologies for data warehousing, data mining, business intelligence and reporting, and enhancing existing risk reporting data warehouses, tools and technologies.

What you'll do

• Contribute to the design and development of efficient data models, schemas and pipelines.
• Develop data ingestion and processing solutions using the existing framework.
• Write complex SQL queries, stored procedures and functions to extract, transform and load data.
• Optimize query performance to ensure data integrity and consistency.
• Provide BI technology subject matter expertise, collaborating with risk stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Implement data security measures and access controls aligned with the firm's governance policies.
• Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, identify performance bottlenecks and implement solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and document changes in the required format.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment and monitoring of data solutions.

What you'll need

• Strong proficiency in SQL, with an in-depth understanding of advanced SQL concepts and techniques.
• Experience working with large-scale, multi-terabyte data warehouses.
• Solid knowledge of data warehousing principles, dimensional modelling and star schema design.
• Hands-on experience with Snowflake, including its architecture, features and best practices.
• Familiarity with data integration tools and techniques, including ELT and ETL.
• Expert-level Power BI experience.
• Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell for data processing and automation.
• Experience with dbt (data build tool) for data transformation and modelling.

Nice to have

• Experience working with risk systems within a financial institution.
• Experience using Control-M or similar orchestration tools.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices.
