Overview
Serve as the senior engineering authority for ESCS, owning the technical direction and integrity of an end-to-end solution from discovery and demonstration through production delivery.
What you'll do
- Set engineering direction, guardrails and decision routes across capability teams and suppliers.
- Own the engineering strategy, technical baseline and engineering management plan.
- Lead multidisciplinary engineering across architecture, software, integration, data, cloud, security, test and service readiness.
- Chair technical and design reviews and assure designs, interfaces and non-functional requirements.
- Align estimates, work-breakdown content, resources and milestones with the programme plan.
- Drive deployment, automated testing, configuration management, observability, security and documentation practices.
- Provide technical advice for demonstrations, bids and investment decisions.
What you'll need
- Experience leading engineering or acting as technical authority for complex systems integration or enterprise platform delivery.
- Experience leading engineering across multiple disciplines.
- Experience maintaining end-to-end solution integrity through design, build, integration, verification and transition.
- Experience converting prototypes or demonstrations into an assured production delivery path.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders while resolving technical delivery constraints.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, architecture, cloud-native engineering, Infrastructure as Code and DevSecOps.
- Knowledge of technical planning, estimation, risk and design governance.
Nice to have
- Experience with supply chain, procurement, order management or logistics technology.
- Experience with IBM Sterling OMS, Ivalua, planning platforms or comparable COTS products.
- Experience with AWS platforms, containerised workloads and automated deployment.
- Experience in IRAD, bid, demonstrator or product incubation environments.
- Experience delivering in defence, government or security-conscious environments.

- Pay range: £75,800–£99,800 per year.
