Civil Design Lead

Overview

Civil Design Lead role at Hitachi Energy in Chennai, responsible for civil and structural design of substation and switchyard foundations and buildings, aligned to customer specifications and local regulations.

What you'll do

• Analyze customer specifications to ensure Hitachi Power Grids solutions meet the requirements.
• Design foundations for HV/EHV switchyard equipment, including power transformers, reactors, switching equipment, gantries and towers, along with drainage and cable trenches.
• Design GIS building foundations and office/storage building foundations.
• Review civil drawings and documents to fulfil local country regulations.
• Ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines.
• Own tasks through to completion while living Hitachi Energy's core values of safety and integrity.

What you'll need

• Degree in Civil design Engineering.
• Minimum work experience of 12 to 15 years.
• Good knowledge of design of steel structures and reinforced concrete structures with STAAD modelling.
• Technology knowledge of steel structure and reinforced concrete structures: Staad, and Autocad/Revit knowledge required.
• MS Office knowledge: Word, Excel.
• Good knowledge of relevant international standards/codes: British Codes (BS), Indian codes, and ACI, which is a must have.
• Hands-on experience in BOQ for civil foundation, superstructure, and PEB structures associated with substations/switchyards.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-starter caliber who could own tasks through to completion.

Nice to have

• Other codes such as Eurocodes, DIN, ASTM or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Civil/Steel/MEP materials.
