Cloud Architect

Overview

As a Cloud Architect, you will provide technical leadership for cloud infrastructure, platform engineering and security architecture. You will lead Cloud and Security Engineers, define the cloud roadmap, and ensure platforms are secure, scalable, reliable and cost-effective.

What you'll do

• Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure for machine learning workflows, including data storage and bespoke frameworks supporting the BRIX platform.
• Develop and implement automated CI/CD pipelines for reliable deployment of models into production using containerization tools to manage and package devices.
• Implement monitoring and logging solutions for machine learning models, applications, and cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to automation for infrastructure processes, including configuration management and provisioning.
• Set up and maintain IoT and Edge platforms supporting Brambles' Serialization and Asset Digitization programs and integrate them with cloud services.
• Ensure best practices in version control and documentation processes.
• Research and implement cloud infrastructure management practices such as GitOps and Infrastructure as Code.
• Mentor and support the Cloud Engineering team by sharing knowledge and staying up to date on emerging cloud technologies.
• Design and govern scalable, highly available and cost-efficient cloud architectures supported by documentation and standards.
• Lead cloud security architecture, embedding Zero Trust, encryption, policy-as-code and compliance controls across environments.
• Evaluate, onboard and standardise cloud technologies and platforms across Kubernetes, data, and CI/CD ecosystems.
• Drive Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and GitOps automation standards across cloud, containerised and serverless platforms.
• Establish monitoring, logging, tracing, and reliability practices for platform health and operational excellence.
• Lead and mentor a team of Cloud and Security Engineers, fostering technical excellence and DevSecOps best practices.
• Stay ahead of evolving tools in DevOps, AI security, and cloud domains and identify technologies for strategic integration.
• Balance technical capability with long-term maintainability when selecting tools for the stack.

What you'll need

• 7+ years of experience in Cloud, DevOps, and Infrastructure Engineering, with proven team management and technical leadership experience.
• Hands-on expertise in Databricks for unified data analytics and processing.
• Proven expertise architecting and operating large-scale, multi-tenant cloud environments on AWS.
• Extensive experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and driving automated deployments through GitOps-based delivery models.
• Extensive experience architecting and operating production-grade Kubernetes (EKS) environments.
• Deep understanding of software security, Identity Federation (OIDC/SAML, Okta), zero-trust architecture, PKI/certificates, and network encryption.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, real-time data pipelines (Kafka, CDC), data warehousing, and client-server architectures.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of driving cross-functional alignment.
• Bachelor’s in Computer Science/Engineering.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Azure and GCP.
• Master’s in Computer Applications/Science.
