Overview
As a Platform Architect in Evolent's Platform Engineering & Operations organization, design, implement, and maintain the cloud and infrastructure platforms that Evolent's applications run on, with a focus on Microsoft Azure. Turn approved designs into provisioned, automated, and documented platforms and design and build intelligent agentic AI solutions for platform, delivery, and operations work.
What you'll do
- Provision and change infrastructure exclusively as code so every environment is reproducible, reviewable, and free of manual drift.
- Reverse engineer inherited applications and infrastructure by tracing dependencies, integrations, and data flows end to end.
- Design and build agentic AI solutions for platform, delivery, and operations work by identifying toil worth automating, then building, evaluating, and hardening the agent that removes it.
- Build security and compliance into the delivery path through least-privilege access, secrets handling, policy-as-code guardrails, and audit evidence produced by design.
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and resilient workloads on the Azure platform.
- Maintain overall cloud organization and standards such as Azure Landing Zone architecture, the Azure Well Architected Framework, and Enterprise Policy Governance.
- Implement cloud security measures and controls set by Senior and Principal team members from regulatory compliance frameworks such as HITRUST and CIS.
- Analyze existing cloud architectures and recommend optimizations for cost efficiency, scalability, resiliency, and performance.
What you'll need
- Humility, openness to feedback, and a team-first mindset.
- Comfort with a high level of transparency and surfacing risks and mistakes early.
- Ability to create high-quality technical diagrams and documentation.
- Deep knowledge of agentic AI concepts: agents and tool use, orchestration, context and retrieval, evaluation, guardrails, and the limits of each.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to reverse engineer application architecture by taking an unfamiliar application and its underlying infrastructure and tracing its components, dependencies, and data flows.
- Working fluency in Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code.
- Proficiency with tools such as Azure Portal/CLI, Azure Advisor, Azure Policy, Azure Resource Graph, and VS Code.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Nice to have
- Experience applying agentic AI concepts through professional experience, personal projects, academic work, or other relevant initiatives, including what it does, the choices made, what failed, and what would be changed.
- Proficiency in a scripting or programming language used for automation and tooling, such as Python, Go, PowerShell, C#, or Bash.
- Experience in a regulated environment, for example healthcare and HIPAA, SOC 2, or similar.
- Relevant Azure certifications, for example AZ-104 or AZ-305, AI-500 or AB-100.
- ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity.
