Overview

Cisco's Webex Persistence Team is seeking a DevOps Engineer (G8) to build and operate scalable, automated platforms, focused on hands-on implementation, automation, system reliability and platform support.

What you'll do

• Design, develop and maintain scalable backend systems using Java and Python.
• Build and optimize data storage solutions using PostgreSQL and distributed databases.
• Use Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration in production environments.
• Implement infrastructure automation using Unusable.
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub.
• Work on AI/ML-enabled features, including data pipelines and intelligent services.
• Ensure system scalability, performance and reliability across distributed environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, DevOps and data engineering.
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews, code writing and architecture discussions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve deployment velocity and system efficiency.

What you'll need

• 4+ years of experience in software engineering or data platform development.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Python.
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.).
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and version control (GitHub).
• Experience in automation/configuration management (Ansible preferred).
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts or platforms.

Nice to have

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Exposure to AI/ML workloads, data pipelines, or GenAI systems.
• Familiarity with NoSQL Database MySQL.
