Commodities Index Senior Developer

Overview

Senior Developer for Citi’s Commodities Index Technology Team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining software and infrastructure for proprietary and benchmark commodities indices.

What you'll do

• Design, build, test, and deploy software for commodity index calculation, publication, and analysis.
• Translate index rules and methodologies into production-ready code with quantitative analysts.
• Develop and maintain data pipelines to source, validate, and process commodity price data from vendors and exchanges.
• Create and enhance tools for historical back-testing, performance attribution, and risk analysis.
• Profile and optimize index calculation and data processing workflows for low latency and high throughput.
• Provide production support by troubleshooting issues and ensuring accuracy and timeliness of calculations and distributions.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of hands-on development experience in an object-oriented language (Python, C++, or Java).
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related quantitative field.
• Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
• Strong interest in financial markets and foundational understanding of financial instruments.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Prior domain experience with commodities (Energy, Metals, Agriculture), financial indices, futures, and/or derivatives.
• Hands-on experience with Python numerical/data analysis libraries (e.g., Pandas).
• Familiarity with cloud computing and CI/CD practices.
