Overview
Computational Modeling Engineer focused on discrete manufacturing modeling and Digital Twin computational models for Lilly’s global manufacturing network.
What you'll do
- Develop and deploy discrete event simulation and optimization models to improve or design manufacturing and logistics processes.
- Build models for capacity, throughput, line balancing, bottleneck analysis, and operations logistics.
- Create Digital Twin computational models of discrete manufacturing lines and logistics networks to enable online modeling.
- Interpret modeling results using underlying concepts like queueing theory, stochastic processes, and scheduling theory.
- Validate model-based solutions using site operating data and, when appropriate, time studies or shop-floor investigation.
- Write internal technical reports and contribute to the knowledge base; publish/present when appropriate.
- Advocate and enable colleagues’ use of simulation/model-based methods through instruction and consultation.
What you'll need
- PhD with 4–8 years of experience OR MS with 8–15 years of experience in a relevant engineering/OR field.
- Minimum of 4 years related work experience (graduate research included).
- Experience developing models in discrete event simulation and/or nonlinear programming, mixed-integer linear programming, or dynamic simulation.
- Working knowledge of queueing theory, stochastic processes, and optimization/numerical methods for discrete event and optimization models.
- Commercial simulation/optimization software experience (ExtendSim®, Frontline Solver®, aspenONE®, or equivalent).
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills.
