Data Engineer

Overview

Data Solutions Analyst/Developer supporting analysis, design and development of the Risk Data and Reporting Platform for data management and reporting capabilities across risk lines of business.

What you'll do

• Demonstrate knowledge of data solutions, data platforms, data management, governance, and reporting products.
• Contribute to design and development of data management and reporting solutions such as Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Data Feeds Registry, Data Quality, Report Automation, and related data services.
• Develop working prototypes, pseudo-code, and algorithms to prove architecture and design patterns for data solutions and data platform components.
• Perform data analysis, profiling, data quality assessments, and thematic analysis using automated solutions; develop complex datasets, reports, and dashboards.
• Perform in-depth research of latest data technologies to solve business problems and derive value, such as applying graph technologies for Data Lineage.
• Design APIs and data services to integrate disparate data solutions within multiple risk lines of business and broader enterprise platforms.
• Assess the health and maturity of data and information capabilities for the Global Risk Management (GRM) domain on a regular basis.
• Understand end-to-end change impact by managing linkages from information capabilities to technical assets (operational and analytical).
• Maintain integrated data models and data flows to understand data and its interdependencies regardless of usage pattern.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science / engineering, Data Science or Analytics and 5+ years of experience in data platform/solutions and data management architecture; or Master's degree and 3+ years of experience.
• Strong experience driving the analysis, design and development of data solutions, data management and governance products, and data and reporting platforms.
• Working knowledge of complex design patterns, microservices, API design, data warehouses and data lakes, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on expertise with data technologies and computing frameworks including but not limited to Python, Spark, Airflow, Java Springboot, JavaScript and SQL.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores and big data environments.
• Strong data analysis and profiling skills and experience developing dashboards and automated reporting solutions.
• Experience with API design and related technologies such as GraphQL.
• Proven experience developing end-to-end prototypes and POCs, and ability to learn new technologies in a short period of time.
• Working knowledge of data management functions such as Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Data Marketplace, Data Quality and Feature Stores.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, including written and verbal communication and visualizations.
• Education: graduate from Tier I / Tier II institutes.
• Experience: minimum 3 to 5 years.

Nice to have

• Experience with a data management platform such as Collibra (preferred), or understanding of open-source frameworks such as Apache Atlas, Amundsen, Datahub, Marquez, etc.
• Familiarity with data storage layers and formats such as Apache Iceberg, Hudi, Delta Lake, as well as Parquet, JSON and Avro.
• Experience with graph processing and storage technologies such as Knowledge Graphs / Property Graphs, with working knowledge of at least one graph store such as TigerGraph (preferred).
• Exposure to Linked Data / Open Data, and GenAI-based data solutions is a plus.
