Data Engineer

Overview

Support analysis, design and development of the Risk Data and Reporting Platform, enabling data management and reporting capabilities for risk lines of business within Global Business Services.

What you'll do

• Demonstrate knowledge of data solutions, data platforms, data management, governance, and reporting products.
• Contribute to design and development of data management and reporting solutions such as Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Data Feeds Registry, Data Quality, Report Automation, and related data services.
• Develop working prototypes, pseudo-code, and algorithms to prove architecture and design patterns for data solutions and data platform components.
• Perform data analysis, profiling, data quality assessments and thematic analysis using automated solutions; develop complex datasets, reports, and dashboards.
• Perform in-depth research of the latest data technologies to solve business problems and derive value, for example applying graph technologies for Data Lineage.
• Design APIs and data services to integrate disparate data solutions within multiple risk lines of business and broader enterprise platforms.
• Apply knowledge to perform regular assessments of the health and maturity of data and information capabilities for the Global Risk Management (GRM) domain.
• Understand end-to-end change impact by managing linkages from information capabilities to technical assets (operational and analytical).
• Maintain integrated data models and data flows to understand data and its interdependencies regardless of usage pattern.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in computer science / engineering, Data Science or Analytics and 5+ years of experience in data platform/solutions and data management architecture; or Master's degree and 3+ years of experience.
• Strong experience driving the analysis, design and development of data solutions, data management and governance products, and data and reporting platforms.
• Working knowledge of complex design patterns, microservices, API design, data warehouses and data lakes, and data pipelines.
• Hands-on expertise with data technologies and computing frameworks including but not limited to Python, Spark, Airflow, Java Springboot, JavaScript and SQL.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL data stores and big data environments.
• Strong data analysis and profiling skills and experience developing dashboards and automated reporting solutions.
• Experience with API design and related technologies such as GraphQL.
• Proven experience developing end-to-end prototypes and POCs and ability to learn new technologies in a short period of time.
• Working knowledge of data management functions such as Data Catalog, Data Lineage, Data Marketplace, Data Quality and Feature Stores.
• Exceptional communication skills and ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, in writing, verbally and through visualizations.
• Education: graduate from Tier I / Tier II institutes.
• Experience: minimum 3 to 5 years.

Nice to have

• Experience with a data management platform such as Collibra (preferred), or understanding of open-source frameworks such as Apache Atlas, Amundsen, Datahub, Marquez etc.
• Familiarity with data storage layers and formats such as Apache Iceberg, Hudi, Delta Lake etc., as well as Parquet, JSON and Avro.
• Experience with graph processing and storage technologies such as Knowledge Graphs / Property Graphs, with working knowledge of at least one graph store such as TigerGraph (preferred).
• Exposure to Linked Data / Open Data and GenAI-based data solutions.
