Data Engineer - AWS Cloud Engineer

Overview

As a Data Engineer - AWS Cloud Engineer at Barclays, you'll build and maintain data and cloud platforms that collect, process, analyze, and secure data.

What you'll do

• Build and maintain data architectures and pipelines for durable, complete, consistent data.
• Design and implement data warehouses and data lakes with required security measures.
• Develop processing and analysis algorithms for intended data complexity and volumes.
• Collaborate with data scientists to build and deploy machine learning models.
• Advise and influence decision making and contribute to policy development.
• Lead a team or guide collaborative assignments and structured tasks.

What you'll need

• Experience building and maintaining AWS cloud infrastructure and platform services.
• Automation skills for infrastructure provisioning and configuration (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
• Experience developing and supporting CI/CD pipelines for deployments.
• Ability to monitor, troubleshoot, and support production environments (incident management, patching, backup, recovery).
• Experience implementing security, governance, and operational controls.
• Knowledge of AWS services and concepts (e.g., EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, IAM, Lambda, DynamoDB, CloudWatch, Auto Scaling, Load Balancers).

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Spark and Apache Airflow or other cloud-based data services.
• Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Experience with cost optimisation and FinOps principles.
