Senior Software Engineer - Service mesh

Overview

Senior Software Engineer (Service mesh) to help architect and build Roku’s next-generation unified cloud-agnostic service mesh and cloud infrastructure.

What you'll do

• Architect, design, and build Roku’s next-generation service mesh and cloud infrastructure.
• Contribute to deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, Istio/Envoy, and Terraform.
• Investigate and help adopt new technologies and tools.
• Build and integrate security into the infrastructure.
• Migrate and integrate workloads using Kubernetes and Istio, including observability tooling.
• Collaborate with the Observability team and the SRE team to scale observability and maintain availability.
• Mentor team members to define and improve processes.

What you'll need

• Strong hands-on experience in cloud technologies.
• AWS, ECS, and Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, AKS or other) experience preferred.
• Knowledge of infrastructure design and tooling to enable and automate infrastructure.
• Experience with a scripting language such as Python and a system programming language such as Go.
• Strong experience with Kubernetes.
• Production experience testing and deploying applications via modern CI/CD tools and concepts.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, and Grafana.
• Self-motivation to understand complex infrastructure details.
• Ability to work independently and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Master’s degree or equivalent experience (8+ years).

• Hybrid work: teams generally work in the office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays generally flexible for remote work.
