Senior Software Engineer, Platform Engineering

Overview

Senior Software Engineer on Roku's Cloud Platform team, architecting, building, and operating a multi-cloud, multi-region Kubernetes and service mesh platform.

What you'll do

• Architect and operate Kubernetes and service mesh infrastructure.
• Write Go, Python, and scripting solutions for compute, scale, and reliability challenges.
• Research and implement technologies that improve scalability, reliability, and developer experience.
• Build tooling to identify inefficiencies and optimize shared-cluster costs.
• Migrate workloads onto Kubernetes and Istio with product teams.
• Scale platform telemetry with the Observability team.
• Design AI-powered tooling and mentor engineers.

What you'll need

• 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure at large scale.
• Deep knowledge of Kubernetes and service mesh technologies.
• Proficiency in Go or another systems programming language.
• Proficiency in Python or another scripting language.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines.
• Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Thanos, Loki, or Grafana.

• Hybrid working, generally in the office Monday through Thursday and flexible remotely on Fridays.
