Overview
Lead strategic analytics for eBay’s Trust & Risk organization as a Senior Data Scientist. Shape measurement frameworks, prioritize complex opportunities, and guide decisions that improve customer experience and reduce transaction risk and losses.
What you'll do
- Define analytical strategy across multiple Trust & Risk domains.
- Frame ambiguous problems and synthesize insights for senior leaders.
- Prioritize opportunities based on customer, risk, and financial impact.
- Establish enterprise KPIs and quantitative measurement frameworks.
- Lead analytical direction across concurrent workstreams.
- Partner with cross-functional leaders to shape roadmaps and decisions.
- Mentor analysts and data scientists and raise analytical rigor.
What you'll need
- 8–12 years of relevant experience with a BA/BS, or 6+ years with a master’s or PhD.
- Experience in quantitative research, analytics, data science, or related disciplines.
- Strong analytical methods, quantitative skills, Python or R, and SQL.
- Ability to lead complex analytical workstreams and manage dependencies.
- Ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional leaders.
- Experience mentoring or guiding analysts and data scientists.
- Availability for meetings between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM PDT.
Nice to have
- Experience in marketplace Trust, Risk, fraud, or transaction risk.
- Experience with enterprise measurement or decision frameworks.
- Background in e-commerce, marketplaces, payments, shipping, or financial risk.
- Experience with natural language processing, machine learning, or LLM/GenAI.
