Data Scientist (Patient Finding)

Overview

Support patient-finding analytics and predictive modeling initiatives across Amgen’s Rare Disease Business Unit. The role contributes to data science delivery across multiple stages of the patient journey under the guidance of senior data scientists.

What you'll do

• Support analytics and predictive modeling projects for commercial data science use cases.
• Prepare data, perform exploratory analysis, engineer features, and track performance.
• Contribute to predictive model development under senior data scientist guidance.
• Support patient-finding use cases including pre-diagnosis signals, diagnosis, treatment triggers, and relapse indicators.
• Generate actionable insights and summaries for business stakeholders.
• Maintain and operationalize Python/SQL code, dashboards, and data pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and participate in stakeholder discussions.

What you'll need

• 3–5 years of experience in analytics, modeling, or data science delivery.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Working knowledge of SQL and modern data platforms.
• Experience with data analysis, visualization, and performance tracking.
• Strong attention to detail and focus on high-quality, reproducible work.

Nice to have

• Exposure to predictive modeling, machine learning, or experimentation frameworks.
• Basic understanding of healthcare data or patient journey analytics.
• Familiarity with patient-finding concepts such as early signals, triggers, or segmentation.
• Experience with MLflow, Git, or notebook-based development environments.
