Overview
Data Scientist role in Unilever’s Home Care Research & Development team, focused on turning scientific and data into insights, models, and faster evidence-led decisions.
What you'll do
- Partner with scientists and business colleagues to define analytical questions and solution plans.
- Develop reliable Python code for data collection, cleaning, transformation, analysis, and reusable modelling workflows.
- Analyse structured and unstructured data using statistical, machine-learning, and deep-learning techniques.
- Build and validate predictive and prescriptive models, documenting assumptions, performance, limitations, and suitability.
- Continuously monitor and help teams adopt applications and models in product and research contexts.
- Create visualisations and dashboards to support informed decisions.
- Apply software development practices such as version control, modular coding, testing, and documentation.
What you'll need
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- At least three to four years of hands-on experience in data science, scientific computing, analytics, or modelling.
- Strong Python programming skills, including experience with widely used data analysis and machine-learning libraries.
- Practical experience in modelling, machine learning, and model evaluation techniques.
- Ability to work with complex datasets and solve open-ended problems.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Nice to have
- Experience building web-based analytical applications using Flask, Dash, or Streamlit.
- Working experience in GCP.
- Use of SQL for data access and Git for version control.
- Creating reports and dashboards using Power BI.
- Working with generative AI and large language models in scientific or business settings.
- Applying software development practices to create maintainable analytical products.
