Director, Backend Engineering - Brokerage

Overview

Director, Backend Engineering will lead the design and development of robust, scalable back-end systems that power Galaxy’s web and mobile applications for a new product offering.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance back-end systems, APIs, and databases.
• Collaborate with front-end, product, and DevOps teams to integrate and deliver features.
• Architect scalable, secure server-side solutions that handle high transaction volumes.
• Implement code quality practices including code reviews and automated testing frameworks.
• Stay current with back-end, blockchain, and fintech trends and recommend improvements.
• Champion adoption of AI and use AI tools to improve productivity and output quality.

What you'll need

• 10+ years of back-end development experience, including at least 2 years in a senior role.
• Experience from a retail brokerage.
• Hands-on development with Node, Express, TypeScript, and frameworks like Nest.js for REST APIs.
• Strong SQL experience and some exposure to NoSQL.
• Experience with microservices and event-based architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Details

• Base salary range (US): $275,000–$300,000 USD.
