Overview
Design and develop mixed-signal, low-power electronic systems for ATEX environments, including certification and product lifecycle management. Work with cross-functional teams on product requirements to deliver robust, cost-effective and reliable products.
What you'll do
- Design and develop analog and digital electronic circuits, including microcontroller-based systems, power supplies, signal conditioning, sensor interfaces and communication interfaces.
- Create and maintain schematics, PCB layouts, board stack-ups, component libraries and manufacturing documentation using Altium Designer.
- Perform hardware bring-up, debugging and troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators, power supplies and other laboratory equipment.
- Review and validate hardware designs for manufacturability, assembly, electromagnetic interference, electromagnetic compatibility, safety and serviceability requirements.
- Lead component lifecycle analysis to identify obsolete, NRND, high-risk and long-lead components and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
- Evaluate and implement hardware changes resulting from component obsolescence, product improvements, cost reduction and availability issues.
- Prepare and manage engineering documentation, including schematics, PCB files, BOMs, component specifications, test reports, design calculations, change documentation and release packages.
What you'll need
- Engineering degree in Electronics, Electrical or Instrumentation.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in electronics hardware design, PCB development and product development.
- Proficiency in embedded hardware design, including analog and digital circuit design, microcontroller-based systems, sensors, actuators and communication interfaces.
- Strong hands-on experience in Altium Designer, including schematic, PCB layout, component and library management, design rules, board stack-up and Gerber/manufacturing outputs.
- Proficiency in hardware bring-up, debugging and validation using oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, power supplies and other laboratory instruments.
- Working knowledge of ERP/BOM systems and engineering master-data processes.
- Knowledge of engineering change management, product release and configuration management.
- Strong understanding of industrial communication interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C and RS485.
- Strong understanding of communication protocols such as HART, Fieldbus, Modbus, PROFIBUS and Ethernet.
- Strong understanding of key design standards such as IEC 60079-11, IEC 61508 and IPC standards for PCB.
- Good project-management skills, including the ability to plan activities, prioritize tasks, manage technical risks and meet project milestones.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to present technical issues, design decisions, risks and recommendations to project and engineering teams.
