Overview

Energy Market Analyst (Data) working on simulation-ready power and natural gas market datasets in Pune. The role includes market research, model updates, benchmarking, troubleshooting, and analysis of model outputs using PLEXOS/Aurora.

What you'll do

• Report to the Global Director of Data and Market Analysis.
• Help supervise development and maintenance of global (North America/Europe/APAC) power and natural gas market models/datasets using PLEXOS/Aurora tools.
• Lead and coordinate market research, model updates, result analysis, and model benchmarking.
• Deliver standalone datasets and portions of datasets using fundamental data with PLEXOS/Aurora power market models.
• Troubleshoot market models and intermediate work products for errors, omissions, and improvements.
• Run PLEXOS/Aurora (or direct others) and interpret output results and energy balances.
• Compare models and review preliminary forecast outputs to detect inconsistencies.

What you'll need

• 2 to 4 years of experience with energy modeling and power market analysis.
• Experience applying energy economics knowledge for power market fundamentals and economic concepts.
• Knowledge of production cost modeling software such as PLEXOS (preferred), Aurora, or Pro-mod (or similar).
• Expert knowledge of power plant/natural gas economics and energy (power &/gas) markets/industry.
• Knowledge and experience with transmission planning and nodal market modeling, including generator mapping and troubleshooting infeasibilities.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and oversee projects from start to finish.
• Strong skills using Excel, Power BI, and similar tools; high numeracy and computer/web literacy.
