Energy Market Researcher- Power

Overview

An entry-level Energy Markets Researcher role in ICF's Wholesale Power line of business, supporting the development of accurate, timely, high-quality products and services across multiple projects.

What you'll do

• Perform advanced quantitative and economic analysis of energy markets globally, with a focus on North America, to assess and forecast electric power and fuels markets, prices, power plant operation and valuation, fuel consumption, environmental emissions and compliance, transmission, and regulatory effects.
• Maintain a large database of energy-related data that must be updated regularly, drawing on data providers, industry publications, regulatory agencies, and web research.
• Track up-to-date information on the energy sector (particularly generation, transmission, and distribution) and incorporate it into existing industry databases.
• Create new industry databases as required.
• Conduct exhaustive analysis of forecasts and changes resulting from updated inputs.
• Interface with clients on key deliverables.
• Prepare documents and summaries for submission to clients.
• Prepare papers and presentations for external publications.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's Degree in engineering, preferably electrical or mechanical.
• 0-3 years of relevant energy industry experience.
• Ability to demonstrate quantitative skills.
• Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access).

Nice to have

• Power market experience.
• Knowledge of linear optimization, production cost models, or applied microeconomics.
• Previous consulting experience.
• Strong modeling skills, specifically advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
