Engineer - Electrical

Overview

Design Engineer – Electrical (US water) supporting the delivery of electrical design projects for the water industry in Bangalore. The role covers investigation, analysis, design, technical documentation, project delivery and guidance to less experienced team members.

What you'll do

• Assist in delivering selected projects or parts of projects while meeting budgetary, quality and timeframe targets and client expectations.
• Contribute towards achieving the sector/discipline business plan.
• Build and consolidate networks within the Water industry.
• Perform project investigation, analysis and design activities in line with client and ARCADIS specifications, the National Electrical Code, international standards and codes of practice.
• Prepare and register relevant documentation and design reports, keeping documentation current, accurate and compliant with ARCADIS requirements.
• Contribute to resolving technical issues on projects and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
• Gain awareness of the commercial aspects of projects to develop commercial skills.
• Work towards Chartership or relevant professional accreditation.
• Remain familiar and compliant with relevant health and safety regulations and promote awareness within the team.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by the manager.

What you'll need

• B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
• 5+ years' experience in the design of electrical systems associated with the water business.
• Knowledge of codes, standards and practices related to the water industry.
• Proven design experience across concept, preliminary, detailed and construction phases.
• Thorough technical knowledge of lighting calculations and design.
• Thorough technical knowledge of low-voltage power distribution.
• Thorough technical knowledge of earthing and bonding systems.
• Thorough technical knowledge of cable systems and containment.
• Thorough technical knowledge of lightning protection system design.
• Thorough technical knowledge of cable sizing and short-circuit calculations.
• Thorough technical knowledge of uninterrupted power supplies.
• Familiarity with SKM Tool, ETAP, Lighting Reality and DIALUX software.
• Ability to independently carry out cable sizing calculations, voltage drop calculations, short-circuit studies, arc flash studies, relay coordination and discrimination studies, earthing and bonding, and lighting design.
• Ability to prepare and check technical specifications, design basis reports and related documents.
• Familiarity with American standards, NFPA, IEEE and IEC standards related to the water industry.
• Experience within a consultancy environment, specifically an extended office of the lead business.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language.
• Good report-writing, analytical and computer skills.
• Ability to think in an innovative manner.
