Engineer - Electrical

Overview

Engineer role in LV/MV Drives product design and requisition engineering within GE Vernova's Power Conversion business, covering electrical design of drive products.

What you'll do

• Design and develop LV/MV Drives.
• Convert product or project specifications into electrical schematics.
• Specify, size, select and analyze electrical components.
• Prepare SLDs, schematics, GA drawings, BOM and reports.
• Manage PLM and Bill of Material preparation.
• Design and execute engineering work packages with focus on quality, cost, schedule and resources.
• Coordinate work packages within a team and with global stakeholders.
• Maintain ownership of all engineering work packages for assigned projects.
• Ensure projects are completed within schedule and budget.
• Collaborate with other GE PC businesses to understand and apply GE Power Conversion technologies.
• Design systems and equipment to meet reliability, testing standards, manufacturability, material and cost guidelines.
• Verify functional performance of prototype hardware under all specified operating conditions.
• Support manufacturing of equipment at factory or vendor facilities.
• Document functional test requirements and conduct tests per applicable standards (UL/IEC etc.), including project FATs.
• Coordinate with System Engineers and Program/Product/Project managers on a continuous basis.

What you'll need

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a reputed college or university.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical design and studies in industry, marine, O&G or power sectors.
• Knowledge and application of international standards.
• Understanding of global electrical codes (IEC, UL, NEC, NFPA).
• Ability to adapt and multitask with project and application engineers.
• Analytical and innovative approach to problem solving.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Eplan and AutoCAD for electrical design.
• Experience in electrical design or simulation tools such as AutoCAD or E-Plan.
• PLM and Primavera experience.
• Proficiency in French or German.

Details

• Location: Chennai.
• Willing to travel on short notice within the base country and overseas for short or long term assignments.
• Willing to work extended hours during the week, at weekends and holidays at critical times.
