Engineer – Software Test

Overview

As an Engineer – Software Test, you will ensure the quality, performance, and reliability of Residential HVAC Digital software and product applications while supporting security assessments of software applications, infrastructure, and systems.

What you'll do

• Create test cases, scenarios, and scripts from feature descriptions in JIRA board and test management tools.
• Participate in sprint activities including planning, stand-up meetings, backlog meetings, and retrospective meetings.
• Execute manual and automated test cases.
• Perform basic security and vulnerability testing, document security findings, and support remediation tracking.
• Assist in penetration testing for web applications, APIs, and internal systems.
• Analyze results, report and track defects, verify fixes, and perform follow-up work to resolve issues.
• Debug automated test scripts and evaluate results to determine the source of anomalous results.
• Create and execute regression, ad hoc, and bug-verification test cases for the final product.
• Identify quality assurance process bottlenecks and suggest actions for improvement.
• Explore and develop ideas for automation improvements in scripts and frameworks.
• Coordinate with team members and interact with various stakeholders for updates.
• Participate in threat analysis and security reviews.
• Work with engineering teams, product development, Product Owners, and cross-functional teams to support communication, product quality, and security-risk identification.

What you'll need

• 2-4 years of experience in Software Testing, preferably security testing for embedded controls and applications.
• Proficiency in Embedded UI Controls, API, and functional automation testing.
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles and testing concepts.
• Familiarity with common security tools and scripting basics.
• Solid experience testing embedded systems and ensuring quality across platforms and devices.
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks, using Python as the primary scripting language.
• Proficiency in Python, including the ability to write maintainable test scripts.
• Working knowledge of communication protocols including CAN, MODBUS, Serial port, rs232/485.
• Ability to communicate effectively both in writing and orally.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good knowledge of the Software Test Life Cycle Process and Test Methodologies.
• Candidates without a 4-year degree are encouraged to apply; practical experience, relevant skills, and alignment with leadership principles are prioritized.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with cloud-native technologies/projects is an added advantage.
• HVAC product knowledge is an added advantage.

• Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu.
• Work on-site 5 days.
