Engineer, Staff- CPU/GPU performance Optimization Engineer (CE)

Overview

Staff Engineer role in Qualcomm's Software Applications Engineering group focused on CPU/GPU system performance analysis, validation, debugging and optimization.

What you'll do

• Perform system performance, GPU workload analysis, benchmarking, and KPI generation.
• Carry out performance validation and debug performance issues in cloud systems.
• Analyze architecture and understand product features and their impact on system performance for optimization.
• Provide technical expertise of software systems through technical presentations, product demonstrations, and support for business development.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to address questions, issues, debugging, or troubleshooting regarding software systems and applications.

What you'll need

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 9 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and/or a closely related field with 8 years of relevant experience.
• Software Applications Engineering or Software Development experience: Bachelor's with 4+ years, Master's with 3+ years, or PhD with 2+ years, or related work experience.
• 2+ years of experience with a programming language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 1+ year of experience with debugging techniques.
• Experience with C and C++ programming, RTOS, OS internals, kernel programming, and UNIX/Win/Linux computing platforms.
• Experience with scripting, used for developing customized tools for profiling system performance.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with background and experience in debugging system performance issues.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies, with flexibility to learn and work in new technology areas.
• Strong written communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility with assignments and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Good understanding of software environments and toolchains (specifically GNU toolchains, Git, and Gerrit).
