Job description

Overview

Engineer for turbine operability in the Tuning and Operations team, responsible for wind turbine controls tuning and operability assessments across new product introduction and fleet support.

What you'll do

  • Retire operability-related engineering risks across the phases of a new product introduction (NPI) cycle, ensuring closed-loop stability, availability, robustness, and compliance with market-specific requirements such as grid codes, noise, and cold weather.
  • Perform controller tuning and operability assessments, collaborating with sub-system and cross-functional teams from conceptual design through product validation.
  • Carry out project-specific assessments to support new unit sales in the ITO phase or project execution in the OTR phase.
  • Lead fleet issue resolution and root cause analysis projects.
  • Enable system-level tradeoffs (energy production vs. loads, etc.) through application of controls technologies and solutions.
  • Adopt new controller features and algorithms developed by the Controls organization and tune them to meet specific wind turbine system tradeoffs.

What you'll need

  • Master's degree from an accredited university in Controls Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with specialization in Controls.
  • Familiarity with controls theory such as system modelling, closed-loop design, and closed-loop analysis.
  • Knowledge of wind turbine controls tuning and optimization.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of high-fidelity multibody simulation (MBS) software for aeroelastic simulations (Simpack, Flex5, Bladed, Hawc2, Adams, etc.).
  • Some years of aeroelastic simulation experience applied to wind turbines.
  • Experience in controller code development for wind turbines.
  • Wind turbine system design experience.
  • Basic proficiency in Matlab/Python programming, as well as GitHub version control.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, including ability and willingness to work across cultural boundaries in a global team.

Details

  • Location: Bengaluru.
  • Relocation assistance provided.
