Overview
Engineering Manager leading and supporting engineering activities across projects for ABB’s Process Automation business in Energy Industries.
What you'll do
- Lead cost-effective engineering tasks aligned to contract specifications, quality, safety, and cybersecurity standards.
- Manage engineering, testing, commissioning, and lifecycle support for Power Management Systems (PMS) including load shedding, load sharing, synchronization, and monitoring/control.
- Design, develop, and integrate DCS/SCADA solutions including controller configuration, application engineering, and HMI/graphics and software implementation.
- Develop and implement power system control philosophies for reliable and efficient industrial power and automation operations.
- Configure and integrate IEDs, protection relays, protocol gateways, and data concentrators; manage IEC 61850 engineering files (ICD, CID, SCD).
- Build and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols and execute FAT/IFAT/SAT and commissioning with engineering documentation.
What you'll need
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in PMS, power systems, substation automation, DCS/SCADA engineering, or related industrial automation.
- Experience in planning and project execution roles for power/automation systems.
- Proven engineering leadership and system integration expertise for complex industrial/utility/energy projects.
- Demonstrated people management and project management experience to lead multidisciplinary teams.
- Sound understanding of power systems, industrial automation, communication networks, and control system architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics/instrumentation/automation or a related engineering discipline.

- Location: Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India.
- Travel: 30–50% nationally and internationally; international passport mandatory.
