Engineering Manager, Continuous Deployment and Change Safety

Overview

Engineering Manager for Anthropic’s Safe Change team, leading continuous deployment and feature-flagging systems that make production changes safe and reliable.

What you'll do

• Lead and grow a team building continuous-deployment, configuration, and feature-flagging platforms.
• Set technical direction for safe deployment of code, infrastructure, and configuration across services.
• Partner with product, inference, security, and infrastructure teams to migrate services to the paved path.
• Drive the roadmap for progressive rollouts, health-check automation, safe configuration deployment, and new deployment surfaces.
• Define and track metrics measuring deployment safety and speed, and hold the team accountable.
• Provide clarity to the team and stakeholders in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment while the platform is still being built out.

What you'll need

• Experience managing and growing a team of software engineers.
• Hands-on software engineering background as an individual contributor before moving into management.
• Experience building or operating backend, distributed, or infrastructure systems in production.
• Working knowledge of modern deployment and cloud-native tooling including CI/CD, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Location-based hybrid policy: expected to be in one of the company’s offices at least 25% of the time.
