Engineering Manager, Inference

Overview

Engineering Manager for Anthropic’s performance and scaling teams, leading efforts to improve model performance and maximize the efficiency of inference and training systems.

What you'll do

• Provide front-line leadership for engineering efforts to improve model performance and scale inference and training systems.
• Become familiar with the team’s technical stack enough to make targeted individual-contributor contributions.
• Manage day-to-day execution of the team’s work.
• Prioritize work and manage projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Coach and support reports in understanding and pursuing professional growth.
• Maintain deep understanding of the team’s technical work and its implications for AI safety.

What you'll need

• 1+ years of management experience in a technical environment, especially performance or distributed systems.
• Background in machine learning, AI, or a similar technical field.
• Interest in advanced AI systems and ensuring safe development.
• Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
• Ability to understand and contribute to discussions on complex technical topics.
• Experience managing teams through rapid growth and change.

Details

• Annual compensation range: $425,000–$560,000 USD.
• Hybrid policy: expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.
• Visa sponsorship is available for some roles/candidates.
• Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience).
