Engineering Manager, Verification and Validation (STATCOM)

Overview

Lead verification and validation for STATCOM and SVC control systems, combining engineering team leadership, laboratory ownership, technical oversight, and project execution.

What you'll do

• Lead operation and improvement of the RTDS laboratory.
• Manage and develop the STATCOM engineering team.
• Own verification and validation deliverables, schedules, interfaces, and customer requirements.
• Plan and oversee control, protection, system-level, HIL, and commissioning tests.
• Review test results and resolve validation findings.
• Support customer discussions, technical reviews, and tendering activities.
• Maintain validation documentation and improve laboratory safety.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in power systems or power electronics verification, validation, testing, or control systems engineering.
• At least 5 years leading engineering teams, technical workstreams, or functional activities.
• At least 5 years of real-time testing, HIL, or control-system laboratory validation experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on RTDS or similar platform experience.
• At least 5 years of experience with control theory, power system dynamics, and grid-connected devices.
• Fluent spoken and written English.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or higher in Power Systems, Control Systems, or Power Electronics.
• Experience with STATCOM, SVC, test automation, or laboratory process improvement.
• Professional Engineer license or equivalent.

Details

• Remote position.
• Based in Saratoga Springs, New York.
• Travel approximately 10–25%.
• Pay range: $113,200–$188,800 per year, subject to geographic differential.
