Overview
Engineering manager for LaunchDarkly’s Warehouse Scale team, leading the backend team that builds and operates foundational warehouse-native data infrastructure.
What you'll do
- Lead and develop a team of backend engineers with coaching, feedback, and career growth support.
- Partner with Product and Design to scope, estimate, and sequence roadmap items and make tradeoffs.
- Own delivery of infrastructure including data export pipelines, DAG orchestration, warehouse health checks, and connection setup.
- Collaborate with adjacent teams on shared infrastructure decisions and cross-team dependencies.
- Communicate roadmaps, risks, and progress to engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Improve reliability, observability, and incident response for production data infrastructure.
What you'll need
- 3+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years managing backend or infrastructure engineers.
- Experience building or operating large-scale data infrastructure (pipelines, orchestration frameworks, or data platform systems).
- Ability to partner with Product Management to translate business goals into reliable engineering plans.
- Strong communication skills for distributed, cross-timezone collaboration.
- Track record coaching and developing engineers, including performance management and career growth planning.
- Familiarity with observability (metrics, tracing, alerting, structured logging) and production incident response.
- Go or comparable backend language experience (Java, Python, or Rust) is required only as a “plus”.
