Engineering Senior Manager

Overview

Engineering Senior Manager to lead the design, build, and evolution of a greenfield, modern cloud and backend engineering platform, including platform and distributed systems.

What you'll do

• Build, lead, and inspire an engineering team with a culture of empowerment and continuous improvement.
• Provide technical and architectural leadership for a cloud-native, infrastructure-focused platform.
• Establish architecture principles for scalability, resilience, security, maintainability, and developer productivity.
• Embed engineering excellence via security-by-design, observability, code reviews, refactoring, and technical debt management.
• Own delivery outcomes by translating business objectives into executable technology roadmaps and managing dependencies and risks.
• Partner with product, architecture, data, security, operations, and stakeholders to remove blockers and communicate strategy and delivery progress.
• Participate in On-Call rosters for critical issue resolution and reliable operation of systems and platforms.

What you'll need

• Significant experience in engineering leadership roles in complex, business-critical technology environments.
• Proven leadership of high-performing engineering teams and experience recruiting and developing engineers.
• Technical credibility to participate in architecture decisions and challenge senior engineers constructively.
• Strong working knowledge of public cloud architecture (AWS, Azure and/or GCP), Kubernetes, Docker, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Strong conceptual and practical understanding of modern Java (Java 17/21+), Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, API design, and REST.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems concepts including event-driven architecture, messaging, idempotency, and scalability/resilience patterns.
• Good understanding of security-by-design, OAuth 2.0, TLS, API security, OWASP principles, and vulnerability management.

Details

• Role reports into the Engineering Executive Manager under EBB Technology.
• Location is Bangalore - Manyata Tech Park Road.
• On-Call participation is required from time to time.
