Engineering Team Lead

Overview

Lead Software Engineer in a ‘50:50’ hands-on + people leadership role, running a high-performing engineering stream.

What you'll do

• Write, review, and ship production code to the team’s standard.
• Own stream technical direction including architecture decisions and code standards.
• Set and maintain the engineering quality bar across reviews, testing, CI/CD, observability, and security.
• Proactively address technical debt and contribute evidence into broader engineering strategy.
• Lead up to eight engineers with 1:1s, goals, feedback, and performance-management cycles.
• Deliver consistently using stream process ownership and risk/blocker removal.

What you'll need

• Hands-on track record shipping production software end-to-end.
• Experience leading a software engineering team with performance and development.
• Comfort across backend, frontend, or full-stack to review and contribute broadly.
• Solid SQL and relational database skills, including cloud-hosted production databases.
• Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and/or event-driven architectures.
• Familiarity with containerisation such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Working knowledge of security fundamentals including auth/authz, secrets management, encryption, and PII handling.
