Overview
Head of Developer Experience (DevEx) leads how Tide engineers build, test, and ship software, including DevEx strategy, CI/CD tooling, productivity metrics, and internal developer platforms.
What you'll do
- Own the Developer Experience strategy, vision, and roadmap for developer tooling, CI/CD, and the internal platform.
- Design, build, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.
- Define, track, and report DevEx and engineering productivity metrics (e.g., DORA, SPACE) and use data to identify bottlenecks.
- Own and evolve the service catalogue (Backstage) as a single source of truth and drive adoption.
- Manage the Developer Productivity function for Java/Spring and Python “paved road” templates.
- Build and evolve internal libraries for authentication and other common functionality with documentation and adoption.
- Prepare the engineering platform for agentic development and define production operating models for agent-authored applications.
What you'll need
- Proven track record leading Developer Experience, Platform Engineering, or DevOps/SRE teams at scale.
- Hands-on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling in a modern cloud environment.
- Experience with Backstage (or comparable internal developer portal/service catalogue tool) including rollout and adoption.
- Experience running a developer productivity or paved-road function including templates and shared libraries used by product teams.
- Working knowledge of productivity frameworks such as DORA metrics or SPACE, and using them to drive improvement.
- Familiarity with agentic/AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) and guardrails/governance for production.
- Strong people leadership skills and experience building high-performing engineering teams.
