Overview

Associate Index Equity Technologist (Python) within BlackRock’s Index Equity Technology team, building and maintaining portfolio engineering algorithms for index investment processes.

What you'll do

• Build a platform, primarily in Python, for developing, deploying, maintaining, and monitoring portfolio engineering algorithms.
• Maintain the algo ecosystem using Python engineering principles to stay aligned with changes.
• Apply quantitative analysis, statistical techniques, and large-scale data processing to improve portfolio management workflows and investment outcomes.
• Identify and implement process improvement opportunities using data analytics.
• Understand the index equity portfolio construction process and integrate portfolio engineering algorithms into the BlackRock technology platform.
• Partner with Portfolio Managers and technology teams to ensure requirements are understood and tools are built accordingly.

What you'll need

• 3+ years of relevant experience in Python programming/algo engineering/quantitative development.
• Programming skills in Python (preferred) or Java with object-oriented skills.
• Experience with SDLC, including agile development, writing tests before code, version control, and CI/CD tools.
• Knowledge of the Scientific Python stack and experience with large data sets and statistical processing.
• Experience applying mathematics and statistical techniques to tackle complex problems.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on precision.
• Effective communication skills and high professional integrity, discretion, and judgement.

Details

• Hybrid work model: required to work at least 4 days in the office per week, with flexibility to work from home 1 day a week.
• Some business groups may require more time in the office.
