Industrial Engineer

Overview

Plan and optimize manufacturing capacity, equipment, labor, space and bottlenecks for Micron's operations, supporting scenario analysis, ramp readiness and executive decision-making.

What you'll do

• Develop and sustain capacity models for operations and carry out scenario analysis supporting business choices on demand, product variety and capacity scaling.
• Analyze capacity restrictions and bottlenecks across loading scenarios and construct Base, Upside, Downside, Cost Optimization and Government Commitment models.
• Determine tool requirements based on forecast, UPH, OEE, utilization targets and product mix, and identify equipment installation, transfer and deployment plans.
• Drive CAPEX optimization and avoidance through improved equipment utilization, supporting tool procurement, transfer strategy and long-range equipment roadmaps.
• Develop people models for direct and indirect labor, analyze headcount needs, and support workforce planning, hiring strategies and labor productivity improvements.
• Evaluate space requirements for future expansion, develop layout scenarios, and support AutoCAD-based factory planning and equipment placement.
• Partner with Facilities teams on infrastructure readiness and expansion projects.
• Identify current and future manufacturing bottlenecks, conduct sensitivity and risk analysis, and develop mitigation plans including tool transfers, productivity improvements, alternate routing and phased investments.
• Monitor tool utilization, labor utilization, OEE and capacity balance, and analyze productivity gaps and improvement opportunities.
• Lead capacity readiness planning for major ramps and site expansion programs, coordinating equipment delivery, hook-up schedules, workforce and facility readiness.
• Present scenario outcomes, risks, opportunities and recommendations to leadership, and develop dashboards and executive summaries for business reviews.
• Apply AI and advanced analytics, including Generative AI tools and machine learning, to refine capacity planning, forecasting, scenario evaluation and tool utilization forecasts.
• Develop AI-powered dashboards and automated alerts addressing capacity, utilization, delivery and ramp-readiness concerns.
• Promote digital transformation initiatives within Planning, IE, Facilities and Manufacturing departments.
