Overview
Integration Engineer owning the integration layer between Leucine applications and SAP ERP, SAP EWM, shop-floor weighing and labelling devices, and L2/L3 systems (PLC, SCADA, historians, LIMS, QMS) on pharmaceutical manufacturing sites, with direct work on customer-facing integration projects.
What you'll do
- Design, configure and support integrations between Leucine MES and SAP (S/4HANA / ECC), including process order download, BOM/recipe and material master sync, goods issue/receipt order confirmations, batch characteristics, and QM inspection lots / usage decisions.
- Build interfaces over REST/OData, IDoc, BAPI/RFC and middleware (SAP PI/PO, CPI/BTP), with idempotency, retries, error queues and reconciliation.
- Monitor SAP interfaces, investigate data-flow issues and drive configuration changes to resolution.
- Configure ontology Action-Effects so MES events (e.g., batch rejected, material dispensed) trigger the correct outbound postings to SAP.
- Integrate staging to production supply areas, dispensing requests, warehouse tasks, handling units and return-to-stock flows.
- Enforce material status (quarantine / released / expired) and FEFO at point of use, and keep ERP–EWM–MES inventory reconciled.
- Integrate analytical/precision balances and floor scales (e.g., Mettler Toledo, Sartorius) via MT-SICS, serial/TCP-IP, OPC UA or vendor middleware, including automatic weight capture, tare/gross/net logic, tolerance checks and calibration-status interlocks.
- Integrate industrial label printers (e.g., Zebra, Honeywell, SATO) and barcode / 2D DataMatrix / RFID scanners; build dynamic label templates (ZPL, BarTender, NiceLabel/Loftware) with reprint governance.
- Build, maintain and troubleshoot Reify (edge platform) integrations, including device connectivity, data extraction and transformation logic, and scaling of edge services.
- Connect Leucine applications to PLC/SCADA/DCS, process equipment and historians (OPC UA, Modbus, MQTT, AVEVA PI) to capture CPPs, equipment states, alarms and runtime counters.
- Integrate with LIMS, QMS, DMS and EMS so quality and environmental data flow into the electronic batch record, aligned with ISA-95 / ISA-88.
- Analyze and document customer database schemas and data models, and map them to Leucine application data structures.
- Write and debug JavaScript-based transformation/extraction scripts used in integration pipelines.
- Write SQL queries (PostgreSQL) for data validation, reconciliation and troubleshooting.
- Author interface specifications, data mappings, error-handling matrices, runbooks and customer-specific configuration documentation.
- Support SIT, IQ/OQ/PQ and CSV under GAMP 5 / CSA, ensuring interfaces meet 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11 and ALCOA+.
- Own hypercare after go-live and collaborate with the engineering team and customer technical teams.
What you'll need
- JavaScript (primary), with solid fundamentals in data structures, async patterns, JSON manipulation, and clean transformation/scripting logic.
- SQL (PostgreSQL), including joins, aggregations and analytical queries, and understanding of schemas, keys and constraints.
- SAP integration, hands-on with PP-PI, MM, QM, WM/EWM via IDoc, BAPI/RFC, OData or middleware.
- REST/SOAP, JSON, XML and CSV data formats and APIs.
- Shop-floor integration experience with balances/scales and label printers; working knowledge of OPC UA, Modbus or MQTT and PLC/SCADA concepts.
- Experience maintaining and scaling edge/IoT services.
- GxP awareness: data integrity, 21 CFR Part 11 and CSV, understanding why an interface failure can be a GMP deviation.
- Strong analytical and debugging mindset, comfortable digging into unfamiliar data to work out how it is structured.
- Good written communication for documenting schemas, interfaces and configurations.
- B.E./B.Tech/M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, Instrumentation, Electronics or a related field.
Nice to have
- Exposure to Java Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with Linux command line, Docker and Git.
- Awareness of message queues / event streaming (e.g., Kafka) or ETL/data pipeline concepts.
- Experience with another MES (e.g., Werum PAS-X, Opcenter, PharmaSuite, Syncade, Körber).
- SAP certification (EWM, PP-PI, QM or Integration Suite).
- Exposure to serialization (DSCSA / EU FMD), LIMS (LabWare, LabVantage) or QMS (TrackWise, Veeva).
- Familiarity with Kepware, Ignition, Postman/Newman and OT cybersecurity (ISA/IEC 62443).
Details
- Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India.
- Hands-on role on production systems used by pharmaceutical manufacturers, with direct exposure to customer SAP, automation, IT/OT and QA teams.
