Overview
Design the interaction mechanics of an AI-driven product, including user input, system feedback, supervision, correction, and control of multi-step workflows. Define new HCI patterns for proactive AI products.
What you'll do
- Design interaction models for initiating, monitoring, pausing, correcting, and completing AI tasks.
- Define interface states such as thinking, acting, uncertain, interrupted, failed, and recovered.
- Design controls for reviewing AI decisions and overriding actions.
- Create patterns for delegation, approval, correction, escalation, reversibility, and recovery.
- Produce interaction specifications, annotated flows, and prototypes for engineering handoff.
- Test interaction designs with users to identify confusion, distrust, and friction.
- Maintain a reusable library of HCI interaction patterns.
What you'll need
- Experience as an interaction designer or senior UX designer.
- Strong interaction design depth, including states, transitions, edge cases, and failure handling.
- Strong prototyping skills in Figma or equivalent tools.
- Ability to map complex AI behavior into coherent user-facing interaction logic.
- Understanding of HCI principles including user control, transparency, feedback, and recovery.
- Experience working with engineers to implement interactions as designed.
- Comfort designing for non-deterministic systems with behavior that can vary across sessions.
