Overview

Lead a team of Java developers to deliver high-quality, scalable backend applications and systems for large enterprise environments. Translate business requirements into technical solutions and support quality, scalability, performance, security, reliability, and delivery standards.

What you'll do

• Lead and mentor a team of Java developers, provide technical direction and task guidance, assign development priorities, review technical work and code, and support consistent delivery practices.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and systems.
• Design and implement scalable, efficient, secure, and maintainable Java solutions that meet business requirements.
• Develop and maintain Spring Boot applications, microservices, REST APIs, and database integrations.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical designs, implementation plans, technical solutions, and deliverable software.
• Establish and promote coding, testing, documentation, deployment, and support practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical issues and drive innovation.
• Review technical designs and implementation approaches for scalability, performance, reliability, maintainability, and security.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application, integration, database, deployment, and performance issues in a timely manner.
• Participate in Agile and Scrum ceremonies, including planning, estimation, reviews, retrospectives, and delivery discussions.
• Support the delivery of Java-based solutions for large enterprise environments.
• Evaluate and recommend technologies, patterns, and development practices aligned with business and technical objectives.
• Support sustainable software practices through reusable components, efficient processing, maintainable services, and responsible infrastructure-resource use.
• Ensure delivery outcomes meet agreed requirements for quality, security, performance, reliability, and timelines.
• Make technical decisions within the agreed architecture and delivery scope, and escalate material risks, dependencies, or design concerns when required.
• Develop, test, deploy, troubleshoot, and maintain Java-based applications and systems in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

What you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field; equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
• 5+ years of experience in Java development or related software engineering roles.
• Experience developing backend applications and enterprise software solutions.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring a team of Java developers and supporting high-quality software delivery.
• Extensive knowledge of Java programming and related technologies.
• Experience developing and maintaining Java-based applications and systems.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, exception handling, collections, concurrency, and maintainable code practices.
• Ability to write scalable, testable, readable, and maintainable Java code.
• Strong experience developing backend applications and services using Spring Boot.
• Experience designing and developing microservices.
• Practical experience designing, developing, integrating, and supporting microservices-based applications.
• Experience designing, developing, consuming, and maintaining RESTful services and APIs.
• Experience integrating Java and Spring Boot applications with databases.
• Understanding of SQL, data modelling, tables, relationships, indexes, transactions, and query performance.
• Ability to design and review data-access solutions for microservices and enterprise applications.
• Experience troubleshooting database-related application issues.
• Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and infrastructure.
• Understanding of how cloud environments support application deployment, scalability, availability, monitoring, and resilience.
• Ability to collaborate with cloud and infrastructure teams to support Java and microservices solutions.
• Understanding of dependency injection, configuration management, service-layer design, application integration, and appropriate database-access and persistence technologies.
• Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.
• Experience with software development lifecycle activities, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
• Experience with code reviews, source control, defect resolution, technical documentation, and release processes.
• Ability to lead technical discussions and support consistent engineering practices.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver enterprise software solutions.
• Understanding of secure software development practices for Java applications, REST APIs, databases, and microservices.
• Awareness of authentication, authorization, input validation, secure configuration, and protection of sensitive data.
• Ability to identify and address security risks in application design and implementation.
• Understanding of secure communication between services.
