Director-level Java Backend Engineer role for Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Technology team, focused on building scalable, high-performance backend applications.

What you'll do

• Develop and maintain software solutions that support business needs.
• Build scalable, high-performance enterprise backend applications.
• Work on backend Java systems using Spring Boot and microservices.
• Integrate REST APIs and messaging systems (Kafka, JMS, RabbitMQ).
• Improve performance tuning, scalability, and distributed systems design.
• Contribute to CI/CD, DevOps, and production observability.

What you'll need

• 6+ years hands-on Java development.
• Deep Spring Boot experience.
• Experience with microservices and REST APIs.
• Experience with messaging integrations including Kafka, JMS, or RabbitMQ.
• Strong SQL, concurrency, and distributed systems design.
• Demonstrated problem-solving ability and comfort learning new technologies quickly.
