Java Microservices Senior Developer

Overview

Digital Software Engineer (Intermediate Analyst) role building and maintaining applications, with a focus on Java microservices and Spring Boot development within Citi's Digital Software Engineering job family.

What you'll do

• Turn tech stack and application design into code on multiple development platforms (e.g. iOS, Android, web/Angular, services).
• Use the right technology to solve technical challenges required to deliver small scale features and functions and / or supporting aspects of a larger program efforts.
• Assist with applications systems analysis and programming activities, including feasibility studies, time and cost estimates and implementation of new or revised applications systems and programs.
• Take accountability for development, design, construction, testing and implementation, and write secure, stable, testable and maintainable code.
• Engage in digital applications development, risk technology, Middleware, Mainframe applications, Non Mainframe applications, Analytic Model Development and Application support activities to meet specific business needs of user areas and test systems to ensure integrity of deliverables.
• Consult with users, clients and other technology groups on issues and recommend programming solutions for customer exposed systems, on occasion.
• Learn the functionality, architecture, dependencies, and runtime properties of the systems involved with projects, including business requirements, runtime operations (including trouble management and support strategies), and maintenance.
• Evaluate system designs and architecture in solution discussions, development and the creation of application / systems documentation.
• Drive system build and performance discussions and provide technical context to team members; represent the team's systems to others inside and outside Digital.
• Build and maintain integrated project development schedules that account for internal / external dependencies, differing SDLC approaches, constraints, and contingency for unplanned delays.
• Negotiate features and associated priority and help the team and customers reach consensus.
• Improve team development processes that accelerate delivery, drive innovation, lower costs, and improve quality, including objectively measuring productivity (e.g. SonarQube, Findbugs) and automating code quality, code performance, unit testing, and build processing in the CI/CD pipeline.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, drive compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhere to Policy, and escalate, manage and report control issues with transparency.

What you'll need

• 5-8 years in an Apps Development role.
• Demonstrated execution capabilities.
• Strong development experience using Java, Microservices, Spring Boot and databases.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills; data driven and results-oriented.
• Experience running high traffic, distributed, cloud based services.
• Experience affecting large culture change.
• Experience leading infrastructure programs.
• Skilled at working with third party service providers.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Bachelor's/University degree or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Working experience in UI/Angular.
