Overview
Own and evolve APEXX's Atlassian environment in Pune, supporting Engineering, Product, Customer Experience and operational teams. Keep the platform well structured, secure, scalable and useful by improving workflows, automation, integrations and governance.
What you'll do
- Own the Jira environment end to end, including projects, workflows, issue types, screens, fields, permissions, notification schemes, boards, filters and dashboards.
- Design scalable Jira workflows with Engineering, Product, Customer Experience and business teams.
- Build Jira Automation and integrations to remove repetitive administration, improve data quality and connect workflows across teams and systems.
- Establish standards for project creation, custom fields, workflows, permissions, naming conventions and configuration changes.
- Maintain users, groups, project roles and permission schemes, applying least-privilege principles and supporting joiner, mover and leaver processes.
- Configure and maintain Jira integrations with GitLab, Slack, Confluence and other engineering and business systems.
- Build dashboards, filters and reporting for delivery, workload, service performance and operational trends.
- Help configure Jira Service Management service projects, request types, queues, SLAs, forms, automation and knowledge workflows.
- Identify duplicate or unused fields, workflows, projects and configurations and simplify the environment.
- Maintain access controls, configuration records and audit trails to support PCI DSS, SOC 2 and ISO 27001 requirements.
- Investigate configuration, workflow, permission and integration issues and provide guidance to users.
- Assess marketplace apps, configuration changes and new capabilities for security, privacy and maintainability.
- Maintain administration standards, configuration documentation, user guidance and runbooks.
- Train users, project administrators and team leads while maintaining platform governance.
- Work with Engineering, Product, Customer Experience, Security and UK colleagues to improve how work moves through APEXX.
What you'll need
- Strong hands-on experience administering Jira in a production business environment, ideally supporting multiple teams and projects.
- Good understanding of Jira administration, including workflows, schemes, custom fields, screens, permissions, issue types, boards, filters and dashboards.
- Experience designing Jira configurations for Software Development, Agile/Scrum/Kanban or technology delivery teams.
- Practical experience with Jira Automation, including building and troubleshooting rules across projects.
- Strong understanding of permissions, roles and access control, with an appreciation for least-privilege and security-conscious administration.
- Experience managing or supporting Jira Service Management, including request types, queues, SLAs and service workflows.
- Comfort working with Confluence and the wider Atlassian ecosystem.
- Experience integrating Jira with engineering and collaboration tools such as GitLab, Slack and QA automation tooling.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for investigating workflow, automation and integration issues.
- Ability to favour simple, maintainable Jira solutions over over-engineering.
- Clear written communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical configuration to non-technical users.
- Ability to work independently, prioritise requests and balance immediate user needs with the long-term health of the platform.
- Ability to use AI tools productively and critically for administration, documentation and problem-solving while validating outputs before implementation.
Nice to have
- Atlassian certifications or equivalent demonstrable Jira administration expertise.
- Experience administering Jira Cloud in a growing or enterprise organisation.
- Experience with Atlassian REST APIs, webhooks or scripting to automate administration and integrate Jira with other systems.
- Familiarity with ScriptRunner or other commonly used Atlassian Marketplace applications.
- Experience with Confluence administration, including permissions, spaces, templates and governance.
- Experience administering Jira for Engineering, Product, ITSM or Customer Support organisations.
- Familiarity with GitLab development workflows, CI/CD and software development lifecycle practices.
- Understanding of SSO, SAML, SCIM and identity management, particularly within enterprise SaaS environments.
- Experience working within PCI DSS, SOC 2, ISO 27001 or similarly controlled environments.
- Experience in a scale-up, FinTech or payments business working across UK and global teams.
