Overview
Plan, conduct and monitor quality for a product line, including incoming, in-process and final inspection of parts. Ensure on-time inspection, product and process quality, customer expectations and compliance with the Quality Management System.
What you'll do
- Approve in-process production by confirming required specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor.
- Approve finished products by confirming specifications and conducting required tests.
- Document and update inspection results by completing reports and logs.
- Investigate customer complaints and non-conformance issues.
- Develop, recommend and monitor corrective and preventive actions.
- Drive quality in products and processes and establish processes for meeting customer expectations.
- Collect and compile statistical quality data.
- Document internal audits and other quality assurance activities.
- Evaluate audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Maintain reports to communicate outcomes of quality activities.
- Identify areas of obstruction or breakdowns proactively and take steps to rectify problems at an early stage.
- Assist Manufacturing in investigations of process-related quality issues.
- Track and control rejection by raising alarms or NCs with immediate effect and maintaining CoQ as per organizational requirements.
- Participate in Kaizen and other process improvements, including suggestion activities.
- Calibrate measuring and testing instruments at in-house and subcontracting locations.
- Manage MRB and RTV, ensure on-time disposition, drive supplier recovery as applicable, and maintain the critical supplier scorecard.
- Participate in HPT Team discussions and provide insights on quality, quality escapes, issue resolution, RCA and CAPA.
- Ensure total compliance with the Quality Management System and lead key initiatives aligned with business goals to support 2x year-over-year business growth.
- Perform assigned tasks using experience and expertise, provide leadership to quality inspectors, mentor and train them, and ensure their continuous skill enhancement.
- Own quality metrics including COQ, FPY, DPU, Escaping Defects, Customer Issue Resolution and On-Time Qualification for the product line.
- Work with the AME Team to manage digitization of key quality metrics, deploy the Quality module in MES, and support Lean initiatives including re-layout, resource optimization and automation.
- Manage calibration of gauges, instruments and fixtures, and deploy Bluetooth-enabled smart gauges to accelerate digitization of manufacturing operations.
What you'll need
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Production Engineering from a reputed college or university.
- 2-5 years of experience in the Quality Function, mainly for inspection of welded parts.
- Qualified NDT Level 2 as per EN ISO 9712 in MT and VT.
- Proficient in computer skills, including MS Office.
- Willingness to work in shifts to meet organizational goals.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate across levels.
- Highly energetic and passionate with a positive attitude.
- Ability to explain business drivers and organizational objectives clearly to the team.
Nice to have
- Ability to handle diverse activities simultaneously.
- Knowledge of 5S, Lean and Six Sigma Methodology.
- Experience documenting internal audits and other quality assurance activities, evaluating audit findings, and implementing appropriate corrective actions.
