Lead Engineer - AI-Native Email App

Overview

Lead Engineer (hands-on technical leadership) owning design and execution of complex products and systems while raising the engineering bar.

What you'll do

• Lead technical design and execution of major products, features, and initiatives.
• Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems across backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Stay hands-on with coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and production problem-solving.
• Make architecture decisions and trade-offs balancing speed, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, and architectural weaknesses early.
• Monitor production, investigate incidents, resolve root causes, and improve reliability.

What you'll need

• Significant experience building and shipping production systems.
• Deep expertise in backend, frontend, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong system design and architecture skills for complex/high-scale systems.
• Proven experience leading major engineering projects or providing technical leadership.
• Comfort reviewing code, debugging complex issues, and working with production systems.
• Ability to explain complex technical decisions clearly and influence engineers.
